Meet the Management Team at Round Hill:
Josef Forstmayr has been welcoming guests to Round Hill Hotel and Villas since he started as managing director of the resort in 1989. Under Josef's direction, Round Hill has won countless prestigious awards and accolades including World Travel Awards' World’s Leading Villa Resort for 11 consecutive years, AAA's Four Diamond Award of Excellence and has been featured on Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List and Travel + Leisure's World's Best List.
Josef has a passion for all things Jamaican and has lived in the country since 1979. His love and enthusiasm for Jamaica and the Caribbean led to his appointment in April 2010 as President of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA). During his tenure, Josef raised awareness of the importance of tourism throughout the Caribbean with the CHTA's "Tourism is Key" advocacy campaign.
Josef currently serves as a director of the Jamaica Tourist Board, The Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and is the chairman of the Montego Bay Arts Council. He was president of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA) from June 2001 – 2003 and is also the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Austria.
In 2005, Josef received The Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer for his contribution to Jamaica's Tourism industry. He was named Hotelier of the Year by the JHTA in 1993 and 1996 and Caribbean Hotelier of the Year by the Caribbean Hotel Association in 2007. Josef was born in Steyr, Austria and is fluent in German, English, French and Italian. He attended the University of Salzburg where he studied Economic Sciences and Tourism and the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
Omar Robinson joined the Round Hill team in 2003 as the property's resident manager. He then served as director of operations before being named general manager in 2007. Fully dedicated to promoting tourism to Jamaica, Omar has served as the co-chairman of the Montego Bay Chapter of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association from 2007 – 2010 and was named chairman of the organization for 2010 - 2011. Prior to Round Hill, Omar worked at numerous Jamaican resorts including Sandals Ocho Rios Resort and was the resident manager at Beaches Sandy Bay Resort in Negril. Omar received his masters in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and has also completed the general managers program at the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
Chef Martin Ian Maginley came to Round Hill from his position as executive chef at SuperClubs, Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa, where he enriched the culinary experience throughout the property's seven dining outlets. Prior to his executive chef position, he served as executive sous chef at The Grand Lido and sous chef at Four Seasons Regent Hotel in Toronto, Canada. Maginley graduated from George Brown College in Toronto, where he also completed his apprenticeship. He has appeared on national television, including live demonstrations on such programs as The Today Show, Fox 5 Morning Show, NBC Chicago, Montreal Global TV and many more and has been featured in national publications such as Food & Wine and Caribbean Travel & Life. Chef Martin also helped to create the highly successful "Epicurean Escape" in association with Food & Wine.
Director of Sales & Marketing
Linda Lawrence joined the executive team at Round Hill Hotel and Villas in 2012 to oversee the sales and marketing activities of the prestigious and classic Jamaican resort. As Director of Sales and Marketing, Linda is responsible for strengthening travel industry relationships, consortia relationships and strategic partnerships as well as looking after the resort's brand positioning, marketing, sales and public relations
Prior to her position at Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Linda spent from 2000 to 2011 in a senior-level sales capacity at Half Moon in Montego Bay, Jamaica. During her tenure, she executed a number of roles including Acting Weddings Manager, Regional Sales Manager and Travel Industry Sales Manager.
Linda has a Master's Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Revans University. She completed her Bachelor of Science in 2003 at Florida International University, from where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Hospitality Management. In 2015 she earned an Advanced Certification in Hospitality Marketing from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. She resides full time in Jamaica with her partner and daughter.
Director of Food & Beverage
At a young age, native Jamaican Hillary Stewart had a fascination with the tourism and hospitality industry, which lead her to begin her career with management positions at the Grand Lido Braco and Wyndham Hotels, both of which she oversaw for several years. Once she knew this was her career path, Ms. Stewart traded the island life for the blustery New York winters in the pursuit of a Master's degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.
After graduating from Cornell, Ms. Stewart was hired by the DARDEN Corporation, where she held a position as a managing partner for the Longhorn Steakhouse franchise. Having a profound love for her native country and the tourism industry alike, it was no surprise that Ms. Stewart eventually found herself back on the island of Jamaica as the Assistant General Manager for Island Entertainment - a role that placed her in charge of operating international franchises and multi-restaurant venues at both the airport and cruise pier. Once her managerial duties were satisfied with Island Entertainment, Ms. Stewart found her current position as the Director of Food & Beverage with the Round Hill family.
Chief Financial Officer
Tracy Christie-Smith completed her undergraduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Technology. After completing her studies, she joined the auditing firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers. She has been a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) for more than ten years and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA) since 2007. She continued her experience with Affiliated Computer Services (now Xerox, a U.S. Fortune 500 Company) as a Division Controller for seven years. Her experience in hospitality began at Half Moon, a Rock Resort as the Financial Controller/Director of Finance. She joined Round Hill Hotel and Villas in 2011 as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.
She holds an MBA from the University of Leicester (UK). She is the president of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) Jamaica Chapter and is the Finance Committee Chairman on the Montego Bay Community College Board. She is married and the mother of two daughters.
Director of Human Resources and Training
Nathalie Saunders was employed to Round Hill in December 2009 in the capacity of Director of Human Resources and Training. In this capacity she oversees employee benefits, welfare and training.
Prior to joining Round Hill, Nathalie was employed as Human Resources Manager with the world-renowned Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort (formerly in Montego Bay, Jamaica). During her tenure, she led the recruitment and selection process for over seven hundred employees. Prior to that, and fresh out of university, she was employed as an Office Manager at Club Ambiance Hotel in Runaway Bay and part-time lecturer at the Brown’s Town Community College in her hometown, Brown’s Town, St. Ann.
Nathalie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Nova Southeastern University, Florida and Business Diplomas from The University of Technology, Jamaica and the Brown’s Town Community College. She describes herself as a self-motivated individual with a strong love for people, family and her country – Jamaica.
