The Grill at Round Hill In Montego Bay
 

The newly-opened Grill at Round Hill is situated just above the main bar and terrace of Round Hill, offering beautiful ocean views and direct breezes. The décor is in keeping with the classic Round Hill aesthetic of relaxed luxury. The whitewashed, simple décor is accented with local Jamaican art and black and white photos, adding a touch of the local and historic to the new restaurant space.

The Grill features the only indoor wood-fired grill in Jamaica, using local primento wood which is indigenous to the island. The wood imparts a touch of smoky richness and is used in a mixture of torched wood for earthy flavor and sweet wood to round out the finish. The kitchen is open, allowing guests a glimpse of the live-action grill and prep stations.

The focus of the food at  the Grill – and property-wide – is simple, locally-produced (where possible) and sustainable. While the meat is largely imported, the focus remains on sustainably-grown, humane and organic products including Niman Ranch from Northern California. Much of the produce is sourced from the area surrounding Round Hill, or from the resorts very own organic garden. Peak growing seasons are November and December, and the menu currently features garden-grown Bibb lettuce, arugula, pole beans, cherry tomatoes, herbs including basil, thyme and mint, and other seasonal items.

Seafood is as fresh and local as possible, sourced from the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and nearby waters in Jamaica.  The most common fresh offerings are Snapper, Grouper, Mahi Mahi and local fresh Caribbean spiny lobster. 

THE GRILL MENU

The new Grill dinner menu features a la carte entrees and sides including entrees from the ocean and the farm, along with a blend of classic Jamaican and traditional side dishes. Meats are served simple with a complementary garnish, typically free of sauce or other accompaniment, showcasing the quality of the product.  

For dinner service, guests can experience an antipasti bar with a variety of salad greens and garden vegetables, as well as charcuterie, fine cheeses, and composed salads and appetizers. The antipasti bar is available as a starting course before ordering a la carte appetizers and entrees or can be enjoyed as a stand-alone light meal.

A la carte starters include Caribbean Blue Crab Cakes, Grilled Prawns, Chilled Gazpacho and Fresh Vine-Ripened Tomatoes with Basil from the Organic Garden, along with other seasonal selections.

Entrees from the wood-fired grill include Fresh-Caught Local Grilled Fish, Spiny Caribbean Lobster Tails and Jamaican Rock Shrimp from the ocean, and Chigwell Farm's Organic Roast Chicken, Pimento-Rubbed Beef Tri-Tip, Certified Sirloin Angus Steak and Lamb Chops from Niman Ranch, among other options from the farm.

Side dishes are served family style and include Rice and Peas, sautéed local Callaloo, Pole Beans with Fresh Garden Mint from the organic garden, Roasted Breadfruit, Roasted Sweet Potatoes and French Fries, as well as a seasonal variety of roasted and steamed vegetables and other sides.

THE SEASIDE TERRACE

One some evenings, guests can enjoy one of several different themed buffet dinners served under the stars on the Seaside Terrace.  In addition, Friday's famous Jamaican Night takes place oceanside on the Seaside Terrace.  

  • Monday - On Monday evening we offer our famous Jamaican Beach BBQ with food, drinks and entertainment right on the sand. Guests can enjoy an evening of relaxed elegance created for lasting memories in casual attire (shorts are recommended, shoes are optional!).
  • Wednesday - Join us on Wednesday evenings for the Manager's Cocktail Party, usually held in the Cocktail Bar and at times hosted in one of the hillside villas.
  • Friday - This evening is the highlight of the week, reserved for a huge celebration of Jamaican food and culture with the best of real Jamaican delicacies along with an authentic floor show that is sure to delight all generations of guests (please note the floor show is offered on a seasonal basis, however live entertainment will always be available on Friday evening).
