The iconic Sugar Cane Ball returns to Round Hill this year and is the main fundraising event for Hanover Charities, a non-profit organization that has funded a number of projects in the community of Hopewell. The event will be held on February 19, 2022 and the theme of this year's ball is Vienna Opera.
Last year, in lieu of the Sugar Cane Ball, Hanover Charities hosted its first staging of a Virtual Raffle & Cocktails event live from the Hanover Terrace at Round Hill. The event raised over US$ 6000.00 Additionally, Hanover Charities recieved over US$ 450,000 in donation including care packages, scholarships for 205 tertiary students and other worthwhile much needed community programmes.
The mission of Hanover Charities is, and always has been, to improve the health, welfare, and education of our neighbours in Hanover Parish. Funds from Hanover Charities provide help to dozens of charitable efforts each year, including:
- Programs to feed school children, the elderly, the indigent.
- Facilities, clinics, institutions, and projects providing health services.
- Organizations that promote positive values and education for children.
- Promising students in need of financial aid through Morris-Watkins Memorial Scholarships.
