When my parents retired, they used to travel to Jamaica every February and stay for the entire month. My siblings and I would go down for a week of that each year and spend time with them. As the years passed, and I got married and had children, I began taking my husband and children, as well. We all felt like Jamaica was our second home. This was such a magical time each year because my parents didn't just go down and live like tourists. When they went Jamaica, they bought groceries in the local grocery stores and markets, shopped for clothing and jewelry from local vendors, went to the beach at public beaches, dined at the small restaurants, and really got to know the Jamaican people. We learned favorite words, like irie, and danced to the beautiful reggae music.

I'm a travel advisor now and I travel all over the world for my job. However, I have never felt a culture as warm and friendly has that of Jamaica. Then, when you couple that with the most beautiful water, beaches, and hotels, it is truly paradise.

So, when my oldest daughter got engaged and we began working on her honeymoon last year, I was beyond touched when she decided that she wanted to show her fiance' the Jamaica that she knew and loved.
