While all of our memories at Round Hill have been filled with warmth and joy, one memory stands out strongest. Dancing to reggae with my mother. The light breeze, the salty smell of the water, the lilt of the music by the beach. While everyone else read their books and sipped on their cold drinks, we were alone in swaying to music. But so happy we were in that solitude - to savor that moment together. We have been going to the Caribbean my whole life, as my father was Haitian. We feel at home with our feet in the sand and the sun at our backs. Now that we can no longer go to Haiti given the political situation, Jamaica offers a taste of what we hold so close to our hearts.
