Where We Found Each Other Again

After seventeen years of marriage and years spent racing through busy days with our three teenagers, we realized how much we needed a breather—just the two of us. So, we booked a trip to Jamaica in 2017, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like a hidden paradise waiting to breathe new life into us.
Round Hill wrapped us in its quiet elegance, sitting like a slice of the French Riviera amid emerald Jamaican landscapes. Our days drifted blissfully from one moment to the next, with each experience renewing our bond in ways we hadn’t expected. Every afternoon, we would sit on the terrace with tea overlooking the private bay, indulging in island treats and sharing memories of younger days when life was simpler. At night, we shared an unforgettable beach dinner followed by a bonfire, with stars overhead and the soft murmur of waves easing us into quiet contentment.
Each day, we found more ways to reconnect. By the oceanfront pool, we read and lounged together in the warmth, soaking in the calm that Jamaica seemed to exude. We treated ourselves to a couples’ massage at the spa, set in a beautifully restored 18th-century mansion overlooking the sea. The calm of the space, with candlelight and the sound of the waves, seemed to melt away the years of stress and busyness.
By the time we left, it felt like we’d rediscovered a new chapter in our story. Jamaica had become so much more than a place; it was now a piece of us, woven into our family’s journey. We returned the next year in 2018 with the kids, watching them fall in love with the same beach and gardens—this time with the added excitement of the kids club, where they made new friends and had their own adventures. My mom also joined that year and seeing her delight in Jamaica’s beauty made it even more special
In 2019, we invited friends along, and they embraced the place as their own, creating a tapestry of laughter and memories. Then in 2021, we came back again with the kids. Each visit turned this beautiful destination into a deeper part of our family’s story, a sanctuary for reconnecting, filled with unforgettable moments that always bring us closer together.
